OUR STORY SO FAR

Before we get to our plans for the future it's worth looking at where we have come from.

2019

Movement Evolution Scotland CIC (MES) was founded and the hunt for a home began.

MES Delivered holiday camps and three after school classes a week at Kippie Lodge.

2020

Covid restrictions.

MES delivered online challenges and a virtual sports day and built large portable obstacles.

MES adapted to deliver activities outside in public parks.

2021

Continued Covid restrictions.

MES continued to delivered activities in public parks and village halls.

MES added Skateboarding to the freesipirt sports delivered in the summer months.

MES agreed a land lease with Leys Estate - we found a home (kind of)!

2022

MES moved onto the site at Woodend of Crathes and placed two donated shipping containers onto the site.

MES launched The Movement Bothy membership (despite only consisting of a couple of shipping containers)

2023

MES volunteers installed the roof and officially opened The Movement Bothy.

MES added BMX to the freespirit sports delivered and

began working with the Deeside Wellbeing Collective CIC on projects.

2024

MES added racks and monkey bars to the inside of The Movement Bothy and volunteers further developed

the Parkour Park outside The Movement Bothy.

The Movement Bothy finished the 23/24 membership year with close to 230 members - and lots of full classes!

MES launches plans for The Movement Bothy 2.0 & Activity Park.

OUR MISSION IS

Moving on to our future.

To create spaces and environments which inspire movement, develop confidence and encourage curiosity, allowing individuals to explore possibilities and push boundaries.

To create a place that brings the community together creating jobs for the area and helps to develop individuals to be the best versions of themselves.

To create a destination that helps to make Banchory and Aberdeenshire a great place to live in and to visit.

To create a place that can cater for more people, and crucially not be impacted by weather.

OUR VISION IS

A free to access outdoor public activity park, which will encourage movement and creativity, with no financial barriers. Coupled with a sustainable indoor activity centre, which delivers classes for the local population as well as being a tourist destination in its own right.

An adventure tourism destination which is an attraction for families visiting Banchory and the surrounding area AND most importantly serves the local community.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE?

While we have lots of ideas for what could be included in The Movement Bothy 2.0 and Activity Park but we really want to hear from the community.  Please complete the community survey form below, to tell us what you think.

There is no doubt that this is an ambitious project, which will require a phased approach.

The first phase of this project is to complete a feasibility study. To do this we need to find out what the community would like to see included in The Movement Bothy 2.0 & Activity Park and then contract an architect and quantity surveyor to complete initial designs and produce costings.

Step 1.
Complete the community survey.

Step 2.
Raise funds for initial architect designs and costings.

Check out our Small & Mighty Sponsored Hike to get involved in our fundraising efforts.

Step 3.
Spread the word - share social media posts and tell your friends about

The Movement Bothy 2.0 & Activity Park project.

Step 4.
It's on us. Movement Evolution Scotland CIC will complete a feasibility study for

The Movement Bothy 2.0 and Activity Park using both information from the community survey and

the architect designs and costings.
